Hello, All you Cats have been great with your help over the years,Up until today except for a solenoid that connected to the pump,Which in my opinion should have been a warranty issue due to Bobcat knew about for quiet awhile ($400.00 later).Anyway, Today just like any other day she started right up and ran perfect.I was moving Boulders and it just "Shut Off" It turns over fine,Has fuel and have checked all fuses. All the pre start components work on the panel.I ran the code procedure 4-5 times and it always comes up none.So that's not telling me much. The Bobcat Dealer in Southern New Jersey has been no good at all over the years for service.Any ideas or which direction I should start looking in?? Thanks in advance for your help. Mick

Just to make sure the fuel is getting to the injectors give it a shot of ether in the intake and see if it fires.
Does it run an oil cooled Deutz? when was the timing belt last changed?
It *may* have done the belt, and it will crank and get fuel just fine, but will not start. Others have pulled their hair out trying to work it out. When the belt does go, it will take out the push rods. Replase them, re-set your timing and valve clearance and you should be good to go. They are made to be a weak point if the belt goes.

Also the stop solenoid on the Deutz likes to get stuck or the fuel control rack gets jammed. Pull off the inspection cover on the lower right corner of the engine to check the belt. Above it is the stop solenoid which is attached with two bolts. Pull it out and stick your finger in there to see if the fuel control rack moves freely. There is no other electronics on that diesel engine and it will run as long as it has fuel flow. When the belt is broken you will notice that the engine spins freely when trying to start it. Pull the valve cover if the belt did break or skip and spin the engine. You can tell if the rocker arms move or if any are bent. Finding parts, however is a total nightmare.

Sounds like your fuel pick up tube fell off inside the fuel tank. I believe the 863 has a cover below the right side boom arm, remove the cover and you will see the fuel line going into the tank. Pull the fuel tank grommet up and there should be a line attached with a screen. If not replace, prime and go to work.

broken timing belt

or bad fuel rack solenoid....I would hope for this :)
Thanks to all of you Cats for the help and suggestions,I took the fuel pump shut-off solenoid out and the machine started and ran fine.I finally figured out that there is NOT 12volt coming into the solenoid from the starter switch,So now I have to go searching for where the wire is broken or disconnected. If I can't find it,I'll still use the key starter switch and just wire a toggle switch inline to turn the pump on & off. On a side note: For all you guys that have Duetz Motors I found a place that has EVERYTHING Duetz!!! There a great place to do business with and the parts are 50-70% less then the thieves at Bobcat. They tell me that they can get anything. Here's a link,And Thanks for all the help. http://www.edi-dist.com/

It's good that is was just the solenoid. If you haven't replaced the timing belt yet I would suggest you think about changing it before it breaks. It's not fun when the timing belt breaks and it cost alot more when it does break.

The images need to be hosted somewhere on the internet and then you just right click and copy, Then in the post just right click and paste. Myself and several others here use PhotoBucket for hosting but can use where ever you want.

I have a 873 skid steer steer s/n 514144786 It worked fine last night and I shut it down. started it up this morning and It has no lift or tilt functions. safety bar down and seat belt on, When I hit the operate button the AHC light will not go off. Checked the fuses-o.k. check for aux power-o.k. steers and moves in forward and reverse fine, hyd fluid fine. I figure it has something to do with the AHC light which should go out when the operate button is pushed. Anyone out there ever have this problem ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanx Billy 410-979-5320 (cell) or post a reply on this site.
