oil filter tightness

I decided to change the oil on my 753. I was amazed how tight the filter was spun on. After getting it off with my 3' Rigid pipe wrench, I drained and refilled the sump. Putting the filter back on required a superhuman effort to tighten it enough, requiring a rubber strap filter wrench. Is this normal for the Bobcat machines? It just seemed unbelievably tight in both directions.

Something be's bad wrong ----Sounds to me that you have the wrong oil filter or someone in the past has messed up the threads from putting the wrong filter on , I usually have no problems spinning the filter on by hand till tight then 3/4 of a turn with the filter wrench , the Napa number of a 753 oil filter is 1068 , 51068 is the Wix number , P552518 is the Donaldson number

You may need to see what the tread size and pitch is (shown in most filter manufactures catologs) and get a die to restore the threads. Sounds like someone forced the wrong one on there.

I agree, they should only be done up hand tight, a wrench should never be needed! Something is wrong.

One thing I noticed about the tight oil filter was that it was tight only at the end of the thread near the engine side, not the outside of the threaded portion. It went on sweet until about 2 turns from the engine side stop point. Had the thread been buggered, it would most likely have been so at the start of the thread, not the end. Of course, if it had a defective oil filter crammed on it, I can see where the thread would be buggered near the end of the thread. It had a WIX on it that I took off with the big pipewrench. I put on a Bobcat filter and had to use the rubber strap tool that worked fine, but I worked real hard cranking 'er down with it. Still, it sounds like I need to find the die size and run the die over it next time I have it off for an oil change.
