While working on my bobcat I noticed an oil leak. The hydro has 2 shafts coming out on the left side,it is the front one ,is it hard to fix and how. THANKS

I have never worked on one of them, can you take a picture at all? it would give us a better idea of where and how its done. Some seals can be done in place but others you simply don't hev the access to get in there without pulling the pump out.

So far I found out that the unit is an Eaton Cessna Model 413xxx.I was told by Bobcat that the shaft I was referring to was called a pindle shaft, I purchased a seal plus UPS for about 13 dollars.Luckily my lift arms are off,cab is off, interior is out so I can see it easily. I have removed a 3/8 bolt with a coil spring and that lets a 3/16 thick bracket move but it runs into a big hose, don't really want to take hose loose will probably leak all over, there are two 3/8 bolts behind the bracket on the shaft that I am going to remove hoping that will allow the center piece to slide off the shaft allowing me to see the seal. Thinking that if I pressurize the system that it will blow the seal out. I will get the names of the people that have helped me so far, they have been great help. Where the lift arms attach to the machine the inside bushing where the pins go thru are all stress cracked out, so i cut out that plate down to where it's level with the radiator, and replaced it with 3/8 plate steel and are having new bushings made. It was also stress cracked under both tanks along the outer fenders have welded them up. Too bad they don't put in a ball valve under the hydro tank so you can empty it with out a mess.

Now i think i know the seal you are talking about, i assume this is where the levers attach to? my manual calls this the pintle arm. From memory its just the 4 bolts then the plate will slide off the shaft, replace the seal then slide back on. Just be careful of the seal lips. As the whole thing runs in oil you will make a bit of a mess no matter what. Ensure the seal and shaft are oiled up to help prevent it pinching.
As for popping the seal, is it held in with a clip? i don't think compressed air will pop it out either, your charge pressure is about 100PSI, you can drill a hole and pull it out with a screw? simply screw it in and use pliers to pull it out. This is only if its that style of seal, some have a lip on the steel plate that prevents the seal from being pushed out.

A friend and I got the seal replaced, not as easy as it seemed. Had to pull both screwed on hoses and hose held on with just hose clamps.Took out bolt and coil spring and removed lever, don't think anything had to be reset special just put it back together. Hope that is all the leaks, Thanks for your help.
