I just bought my first Skid Steer. Its been sitting in a field that I know flooded a few years back. There was water in the oil (Engine still turns by hand), Hydraulic tank is full (will be draining this weekend). I have seen a lot of talk about a Kabota Diesel but Im pretty certain I have a Perkins Diesel. When It was parked the boom was raised and set on the locking pins but no rust on the cylinder shafts!! I managed to find a new starter and glow plugs but it was a pain finding them. Water was only about 1.5 feet deep for about a day when it flooded. What else should I be looking at? Whats the difference between the L555 and L555 Deluxe? I have never seen an attachment plate like this before so where can I get attachments or should I replace it with a modern attachment plate? Dont wanna replace because it came with a bucket and forks.

Start by draining all oil and replace the filters. Get it going, then replace them again after running it for a while to mix all the new oil around to displace the water, replace till the colour is right.
As long as it hasn't sat too long, hopefully there is no rust in the bores of the engine.
Start there and then move on to the other things to get them going and decide about the quick attach plate.

The L555 Deluxe has auxiliary hookup for hydraulic equipment like post hole digger. Tazza can tell you how to drain the system by pumping it out. Drain all the oil first as he told you. Refill then run and then pump it out. That way you will get the old oil out of the oil cooler. You will need 35 gallons to do the job and all new filters. I got my oil from Tractor Supply on sale. Also after you get it running I would take the plates off on top of tank over the rear wheels and make gaskets to seal them. Water can get in as they are just bolted on. Make sure the screen in clean on the intake. Right side under side panel by your leg. Unscrew the nut clean and put back in. Then check couple of times after you run for a while. Mine set for 6 years but was not flooded. It took a while to fix leaks and get clean oil but it was worth it. Good luck on your machine.

I have 2 hydraulic ports at my left knee so I guess I have the deluxe. I bought a PDF service manual but didnt see anything lining out the differences in the 2 models. Thank You!! The engine oil has been drained and refilled. We are spinning it by hand about 30 full turns a day until I get the starter later this week. Going out to put it on blocks and figure out where the hydraulics drain plug is. I figured I would have to get a few rolls of gasket maker.

Not all hydraulic systems have a drain plug as such, you may need to remove the line at the bottom of the hydraulic tank. FInd the lowest hose and remove it to hopefully get all the water you can.

My machine has a port on left side and the other one on right side. The right stick has a cable run to it and you pull the pin to operate it. Also for your information parts and diagrams are before serial number (BSN) 712164 and after serial number (ASN) 712165. I have the Service Parts Catalog Issue 10-92. Found it on Ebay Also the Service manual for the L-555 Series. Worth their weight in gold! The boom hydraulic serial #'s are BSN and ASN 819493 and shows the attachment for the optional hydraulics. My machine came with the Bobcat style attachment plate. Try to get both manuals as the part # can be used at dealer to buy parts. Service manual is a must if you need to repair anything. Hope this all helps you.

Check for a drain plug under the chain case behind the front tire. Mine has oneon esch side there and has a square hole in it for a breaker bar. Good luck getting it out. I broke one breaker bar before I left it alone
