Not sure if it is the drive motor that is at fault or what but is much weaker than the other side, more so when the oil gets warm, and a lot more movement in the linkage arm to make it react,- been looking on line for a good used drive motor for this one or at least a rebuild kit, any info regarding this would be a lot of help because if I,m going to pull it off might as well rebuild or replace it.

Moved to the Mustang forum where it's morel likely to be seen by someone with the parts to help.
I think someone over at TractorByNet had a couple of Mustang drive motors that he got from a scrapyard unit, if I can find it again I'll send him over, or link the thread here.

Thankyou, much appreciated

I wouldn't put all the blame on the drive motor, as the oil warms up, it thins out. This can allow the oil to by-pass inside the pump and the motor. If you swap motors from side to side, see if the issue moves or not. If it does the motor may need seals or a geroler, if it does not move, your pump needs working on.

The good side is like instant with a quick response and the not so good side you have to move the leaver a long way to get it to respond... not an easy motor to take out and swap so i'm wondering if there was a way to swap lines instead with the good side...wish I had a proper shop manual for this one,- one thing when I got it there was way to much oil in the chaincase so I know how much I put in and if twice as much comes out I think that would answer a lot... now to find a rebuild kit for one of those or a good used motor, one thing is the main pump is in good shape, loader rams and bucket work great and one drive motor.

It's rare to have lines long enough to swap at the pump to test motors that way, but you may be lucky.
Excessive oil in the chain case does sound like a drive motor seal, if you dpn't want to swap motors, it won't hurt to throw a seal kit at it and see if it fixes the issue.

Does Not appear the seal was leaking but removed the motor which is now on the bench after a lot of work getting it out, be nice to locate a rebuild kit for it or at least find a good used one, probably pull it apart today and see what we find inside and go from there.- thought well I'm at it might as well put a new chain in that side as well.

When you have it open and if you can see where tue issue is, loader parts source should be able to help with seals or a rebuild kit. They even have a test bench that they can use to ensure it's right.

definitely the motor, the valve plate looks pretty bad and all the roller bearings are worn flat etc, found a parts source possibly about an hours drive from here, good guts out of another 4000 series eaton - got a new chain coming too, might as well replace that side as well, other side got one about a month ago.

Ouch, sure sounds like the motor was in a bad way, never seen one worn like that before.

Turned out to be the spline in the main drive shaft started to break away around all the center areas- that motor is fairly unique having a 1.25 tapered shaft to run the sprocket-disk brake on - most likely have to buy a new complete motor.....ouch

sounds like we are having similar issues on slightly different models. I have a Mustang 960. Left drive seemed to seize up. Primary chain master link had come off so I replaced all 4 chains on both left and right, re-assembled and left side still not working. I think the drive motor is the issue. Guessing parts will be hard to get. What did you do to find what you needed to replace/repair motor? How long did it take to remove motor? Did you have to remove the main pump assembly under seat to have enough room to pull out the left motor? I think the right side motor is further ahead so you don't have to pull main pump motor. I am so frustrated with this I am thinking of taking to a shop to do it. How many hours should this take? Sorry for all the questions and thanks for your help.
