I've just purchased a Case 1845c skidsteer. I asked previous owner where I could find the additive and he advised he always used reg hydraulic oil. He had owned the machine since it was new. So, my question is should I continue to use hyd oil or change and use 10w30 oil with the HTO additive?

1845c prior to serial JAF0067438 used axial piston drive motors and planetarys. They do not need HTO additive.
After JAF0067438 they used gerotor drive motors and no planetarys. They use HTO additive to prevent wear in drive motors.
So look at your serial number or see if you have planetarys under where your feet are.

Did you find out anything? mine has a leak and the hto additive is expensive. I would like to use hyd oil. thanks
Here is my take on this. The main active ingredient if you will of HTO is the antiwear additive ZDDP. A premium hydraulic oil will already have ZDDP in it, so I see no reason not to run a premium hydraulic oil in Case skidsteers.
