I recently purchased a JD 250 and am having problems with the drive and steering hydraulics. This thing is too sensitive. If you try to drive forward or backwards it reacts so fast the machine bucks and jerks violently. Right now it's not safe to operate. I plan to do a full service on the hydraulics since I don't know the history of the machine and hope that might cure the problem but I am not optimistic. I've looked in the manual and cannot find a adjustment to relieve some of the pressure. Am I dealing with a bad valve body? Any advice is appreciated.
 
I'd start by checking the steering pivot linkages, if there is any play, it can make the machine jump around like this.

I would guess somebody tried adjusting the steering and got things messed up. After tipping the cab up you have to bolt or clamp the steering linkage as it's normally held by the cab. Once the cab is up you can see what's going on
