Greetings, new guy on the block. Thanks for having me. I'm of limited diesel experience, that being said - Having some issues with my L783. It died while in use. The fuel filter was a little "snotty" so changed it, added some bio-kleen to the tank. Never had any luck restarting it after changing filters without cracking the lines at the injectors first. Did that, cranked it, got wet. had fuel. I can get it to run for 2-3 seconds then it dies. Thaought maybe solenoid on the pump. No, had 12.8V and I can feel it "click" when the key is turned. I'd say the solenoid is good. I've had this machine a very long time and it's always done me well with minimum issues. What am I missing? BTW - Ford not Deutz engine Thanks

I suspect it is still not primed properly, even a little air in the lines will cause issues. I know when i have run my machine out of fuel, it will normally start then stop like this.

I had some time today to get back at this. I must have cracked the lines at the injectors a good 15 times each. Got her to pop a time or two. Got fuel when I cracked the lines. Even tried a little ether. I'm finding it hard to believe any air is left in the system. Injector pump issue??????? 2 days ago I had all the lines off from the tank all the way to the injector pump. Clean, solid. Replaced hand primer pump (great deal on ebay) That aspect of things seems to be just fine.... I'm out of ideas..............

BTW, I am getting a little smoke out of the pipe when cranking... fuel has got to be there right???

If you are getting enough fuel, it should be blowing white clouds out the exhaust, not just little puffs of smoke.
With a new hand primer, giving it a good squeeze to give you more fuel pressure may help. Get someone cranking an you give it a good squeeze so it's nice and firm.
I'd like to think the pump wouldn't fail like this, i'd suspect it would slowly get weak or drop a cylinder, not just stop all fuel delivery.

As you did say it just dies on you, could it be the fuel shut off solenoid or something with it? If it's shut off, or not fully opening, it could be preventing fuel delivery.
