Visted my Richmond VA Bobcat dealer, and bought a few parts, I could not find on eBay or the internet. Asked how much they would charge to do the drive chains. They brought the mechanic out of the back of the shop, and I got this very serious estimate: $8000 to replace chains, rebuild axles bearing abd seals. I politely said that that would not fit in my budget. Using the Bobcat wewbpage, for my serial number, I had made a parts book. Good thing, because I had to show the parts guys the right part number, hand the part they gave me back, tell them to check again, only to get the right part. This really bothers me. While I a good mechanic. A month ago, I knew absolutely nothing about bobcats, other than I could regonized them. I have owned one for less than 2 weeks, and already I can spot the right and wrong parts, and these guys work around them every day and they cannot. Now I was the only customer, so it was not hurried. I needed the bottom drain cover plate. I took one of the parts guy who was slim enough to go out to the yard, look at an 873, and I showed him the part I needed. Then I had to show him that part, on the several pages he printed (which I could not pull up off the internet). Next time I go there, I will I will know exactly what I need, and will not be in a hurry. I am laughing about the estimate, but this scares me. I hope your dealer is better.
