Final drive motor overhaul for Char-Lynn 114-1064-005

Attached is the manual needed, plus the above OneDrive link has pictures I took overhauling my Char-Lynn 114-1064-005.
Also attached is the Danfoss Char-Lynn parts manual that has much better drawings. As you will see, the Danfoss PDF includes variations not used by Bobcat models.

The Char-Lynn/Danfoss/Eaton seal kit needed is 61239

It's not a terribly difficult job.

Mine came out of my 853, and the manual says these are also used in:
730, 731, 732, 741, 742, 743
742B & 743B (S/N 17999 & Below)
7753 (Early Models}
843, 853, 1213

This was on my Bobcat 853. That is the only Char-Lynn motor my 853 has. I am not familiar with any of the Mustang models - only the Bobcat 853

I ordered the oring kit from the site you listed. I called bobcat and they wanted $145 CAD for the kit. So thanks for posting the source you got your kit from, I purchased the same. Part numbers on my char-lynn motors are the same as well.

Did the oring kit you purchased come with the oring that seals the drive motor to the chain case, I'd assume there a oring there correct?

No - that one I got from Grainger. The day before I installed that oring, I also dabbed some RTV on the metal frame that surrounds the oring to keep it from falling off and therefore make reinstallation easier.

For anyone else looking for part number 6558518, which is the chain case to frame o-ring, it is a standard size 456 o-ring available many places. I got mine at Grainger:

Are you sure that Grainger # is correct , the o-rings looks massive.

I was wondering if the seal kit you got for the char-lynn drive motor came with oring #12 in the schematic.

I think that large oring from Grainger you posted might be #19 ?

Apologies - yes that Grainger number is for #19.
The kit must have come with #12, but I don't remember.

What part is used to time the motor to reverse drive? I rebuilt both of mine and one turns reverse direction. I tried to swap hoses, but it's impossible with hoses this stiff. Edit: I found this which doesn't really help.

You have to line up the valve with the hole on the side of the disc and turn half turn. It shows timing procedure in the link I've attached.

Third try and it works like normal now. That was harder than I thought. The first one I didn't even see your pics, just tore it down and put new seals in. Works great. The second side was a bear. That was a long day. Edit: Also 25K30508, the o ring that goes between the motor and the gearcase is a little big. I soaked them in vinegar overnight and they fit perfectly today. Stayed in despite multiple remove/installs.

How did you find getting the white inner/outer face seal in place? Mine we so tight I had to boil them in water. Was a real pain in the buttski

Mine slid right on.

Mine slid right on.

Crazy, I destroyed one trying to get the inner face seal on. They were so tight I thought maybe I was sent the wrong seals. I had to boil it and install backwards to conform to the bore and let it sit for a bit. Then removed it and put it right side around. Both seals we almost at the point of being destroyed when I installed them. The old one slide on and off easily. I must have got ones that were manufactured incorrectly.
