    L555 oil cooler question

It seems like rebuilding the cylinders has solved quite a few issues I was having with my hydraulics. After rebuilding the cylinders, the jerking of the boom and tilt is gone, hydraulic fluid hasn't heated up again (mechanic friend thought fluid was looping and not going through cooler for some...

    L555 oil cooler question

Update for what may have been causing most of my problems from the beginning. Found a heavy machinery mechanic with 55 yrs experience. I explained to him about all the strange things I have had going on. He told me for some reason I had hydraulic pressure going head to head. He told me to start...

    L555 oil cooler question

Well, the machine made a liar out of me today used it for about 5 hrs straight. Temps never even got near hot. The boom and tilt cylinder only went to 137 F, the big filter and left front drive went to 143 F and the other places I checked went 133-139 F. The oil cooler on the intake side 133 F...

    L555 oil cooler question

I'm going to get a thermometer tomorrow morning. I thought they should run 185+, but the oil cooler being just barely warm has me stumped. I thought I would check temps throughout the machine, never had it this hot on cylinders. After I get temps will post them.

    L555 oil cooler question

I hate always having questions and not being experienced enough to give answers. My L555 the boom and tilt cylinders and the filters after using for about hour are so hot they burn you if touched. The oil cooler, on the other hand, feels to be less than 100 degrees. Am I correct to be looking...

    Bypassing Aux Hyd on L555

Thanks for your help Mike. I got all the boom hyd valve and the aux valve off, capped return line at the oil cooler Tee and a plug in the main control valve. Refilled machine with the strainer cap off and everything works good. Hydraulics operate like new.

    Bypassing Aux Hyd on L555

I understand about the plug, now to get all the lines off the control valve to remove it. You had told me before that I needed to pull main hyd control valve to check for a bad pressure relief valve. So will also have it rebuilt at this time. If I get into trouble I will reply back. Thanks for...

    Bypassing Aux Hyd on L555

Thanks Mike, after reading your reply, I went out and retraced the lines. I think I have it now, the line I thought was a charge line is a return line to oil cooler line and I can remove hose and cap. The lower hose on the aux hyd valve is the charge line and I need to remove it and plug at the...

    Bypassing Aux Hyd on L555

I will retrace the lines and let you know. I will pressure wash everything and drop bottom plate for clearer view of things.

    Bypassing Aux Hyd on L555

The Valve I'm referring to has a charge line that is T'ed off the oil cooler line on the main hyd control valve and has a line that goes to each side of machine (capped off on each side) and the other line goes to the aux hyd control valve with two lines going to connectors and other return...

    Bypassing Aux Hyd on L555

I have a L555 serial number 624???. so it is a old machine after 4 yrs getting back to work on it. Previous owner locked out hand control for the boom hyd controller. I don't use or intend to use aux hydraulics on the machine and was wondering if I could bypass this section of the hydraulics...

    L555 boom seized

I was finally able to get the machine moved from the field to my shop, was really lucky that the wheels rolled so made things a lot easier. What I have found to this point is when I open the aux. valve, the boom or the bucket tilt, all that comes out is water, no hydraulic fluid. I opened up the...

    L555 boom seized

Thanks for the reply, I was hoping not to have to remove control valve but it looks inevitable. Will report back with what i find.

    L555 boom seized

I'm hoping that someone may know if this is a possibility. I had read in another thread that the L555s can become air locked from losing fluid and not bleeding air out of strainer cap when refilling. I lost the boom cylinder seals and had them replaced, replaced my filters and changed fluid...

    L555 boom seized

The machine hasn't been used for 3 yrs. I checked the linkages and they appear fine, whatever it is seems to be inside the control valve. I don't think it could be the safety solenoids because there is no hydraulic pump on it and system is dry. My next step is to take the control valve off and...
