Mini-Excav: crunching sound while moving - normal?

Hi - I recently bought a used Kubota KX-41 mini excavator (to keep my 741 company) and I have noticed a crunching noise that the seller attributed to the track belt riding on the sprockets - is this normal or is it a sign of a bearing going in the final drives? I was thinking of pulling off the track belts to see if the noise persists. Thanks in advance for your thoughts...

Taking the tracks off and checking the idlers is a good idea. Best find the issue before it fails and causes more damage

I pulled the tracks off and checked the idlers - all seemed OK. I also ran the drive motors - they were quiet as well. I put the tracks on again and tensioned them as per manual and it now drives a lot quieter. They must have been too tight...
