Hello all, I am new here so hope I get this right. I have an 864 track loader and love it. Bad news is, one drive motor leaking bad. I found a 864G nearby for parts and wondered if the drive motors are interchangable? I have no Idea what the differences are between the two machines. Any knowledge that you can share with me will be greatly appreciated.

I would take it apart and change the orings and seals becareful they are timed and put blue locktight on the threads to seal them cheap and easy

Or is it leaking into the chaincase?
They 'should' be the same the only difference should be the electronics, but i agree with antfarmer, pull it down first and see if you can repair the leak.
Being a tracked machine, it is possible the leak is because of internal failure. Hub oil needs to be changed at the required times to prevent the bearings going out.
Hopefully someone else can confirm if the travel motor is indeed the same or not.

For what it's worth, LPS only lists one drive motor to cover all 864 models. Sounds like they are interchangeable.

Thanks for the info. I originally wanted to split motor and replace seals but broke my 9/16 allen socket[which was probably the most expensive brand...S...O] and twisted my best allen wrenches, then my local Bobcat dealer told me the seal kit was over $400.00. any ideas you have to get those bolts loose I would sure be interested in hearing. Again thank you

They locktight them to keep them from leaking at the threads a bit of heat should do it

Heat is a good idea, also hitting them with a metal drift to try and crack them can help.
Did you ever get the bolts out? I have had the motors apart a couple times on my T200 (same as 864) and I remember having trouble with those same bolts. They are recessed into the motor and mine were rusted. Get a hex key that you can use with a impact wrench and they will bust loose. Also, the reason your motor may be leaking could be due to your case drain filters being plugged up. I have found that if the case drain filters don't flow enough hydraulic fluid it will create pressure in the drive motor and blow out seals.

No I have not gotten them out. My I R impact broke my S O hex socket so I bought another one. Broke two extentions and have not worked on it since. I am not one to give up but I found a couple used drive motors within sixty miles of me. $1500.00 with core, so I might just go that route. Being self employed I always end up waiting thirty days to get paid. thats where I'm at now. I do agree with you about case drain filters, This being the first bobcat i owned, I did not even know they existed. I sure have learned alot since the start of this problem though. I have rented bobcats for over thirty years, and treated them good, but someone else did everything to them except when I greased them. I do have bobcat parts and service manuals and will get this fixed eventually. Thanks so much for your input.
