Hi Guys, I am brand new here. One of the main reasons i'm here is that we will be purchasing a Skidsteer for our small farm within the next week or two. This is a very important purchase for us, and we have to "do it right". I'm not very experienced with Skidsteers. In the past, we have rented one locally toclean out the barn, etc. But, this year, we are making the big plunge. Our Hay Guy has a Case 1840 with about 30,000 Hours on it. He swears by it. I use it when I go to pick up hay, and am somewhat familiar with it. This is the basic size/style machine I'm looking for. Must Have: Auxillary Hydraulics Lift Capacity at least 1,000 - 1500 Must Be Diesel Low Hours. I'm also checking out Bobcats 743, 753, and New Holland LX565. NOT looking for a "Project". Must be 100% Ready to Go. We may even by from a dealer so we get a Warranty - not sure. We are in the U.P. Of Michigan, near the Wisconsin border. Looking for a good deal! Bob

How far do you want to travel? I bought the one I have now from Lulich in Mason,Wis, Seemed like a good dealer with a good rep. No one is giving these things away so be very suspicious of a good deal. Be sure to get books, both operators and service because you will need them sooner or later.

If you go bobcat, steer towards the 753 style. It is the newer style, larger engine, no universal joint between the engine and pump.
There is very little to go wrong with a 743, they were made between 1980 and 1990, so they are getting old. All mechanical, so no computers to go bad on you. Servicing on some parts are not as easy as the newer ones.
Do some research, get some models and prices, pop back on and tell us what you have found to give advise and what to look for.
