It is not the pump, some are just touchy more than others. It just takes alot of time and sometimes alot of beer drinking to get those 743 and 742 to adjust at neutral. I have spent well over six hrs getting one before, just follow your manual to a tee and you will eventaully get it. Make sure that those round pucks that they center against do not have a flat spot on them because that will make it 10 harder yet. but that is the reason your unit is growling because you are not centered and it sending oil to the motors which are trying to turn the chains.
