I have been watching the auctions on Ironplanet and see a lot of sunbelt off lease units for sale. My question to you guys is if I were going to buy a unit, what do I need to look out for? The ASV/Terex units resell values are really low which is not really a bad thing, as this will be a farm machine, not buy it and flip it on C/L. I have been watching youtube and really like the way the ASV undercarriage handles mud, turf, and normal use. Why are these machines given such a bad name from the others, are the undercarriages that costly to repair, is the unit not built as rugged as all others? Thanks, Thomas S.

Tracked machines are always inherently more expensive to repair & maintain, So. if you can do the same job with a tire style machine, you will be able to save quite a bit of money right there. I'd look over the machine for the obvious mechanical type issues(leaks, knocking sounds, smoking, etc.) Try to get the maintenance records, look them over for any issues they've had in the past. Other than that, check for the obvious signs of cosmetic problems (rust, stress cracks, wreck related dents, bends, etc.)
