G'day Guy's, I'm new here and would like to introduce myself and ask a few questions. I have a 2011 Bobcat S160 with 1330hrs on it and it is showing error code M0514 and then shuts down. I believe the error code means " hydraulic charge pressure extremely low" . I have only just bought this machine and know very little about it, my old machine is a 345 mustang and the two are chalk and cheese apart. Where do I start looking to find the problem, every thing seems work fine and I know this machine has sat around a lot not being used and I am wondering if something has blocked or seized.

Code means just that. The reasons may be many. Only this code you out? Without the proper tools you can not do much.It can only check connector. It is best to call your dealer to check the controller and sensors, to measure pressure ... will definitely come out cheaper and faster than to change parts without being sure of the cause..

Thank's mate for the reply, I have contacted the dealer and he has told me it is one of three things, 1 Drive belt tension, 2 Sensor, 3 bad earth. As far as codes, I had two M0514 and M0515. I am betting it is the belt tension, I had a play with the sensor and it no longer throughs up M0514, so I cleaned around all the engine bay, started it back up and this time it stayed running for about five minutes. It usually cuts out after about a minute, I think I may have moved some oil off the d rive belt, hence the reason it ran a bit longer. Then it shut down and only had M0515 code, I will look at the tensioner tomorrow and adjust if necessary.

М0515 mean charge pressure in shutdown. Check the belt, but I'm pretty sure that is not the reason. Charge pressure is a supply of oil to the hydrostatic pumps.Charge pressure is obtained from gear pump. Both pumps are tied mechanically so loose belt would hold both speed and should not be a problem and you should have a whistling sound from the belt. If there is oil on the belt or the pulleys is possible to slip and may not even reach the minimum pressure, but I doubt it. Bad pressure sender is possibly , dirty connections in wires also. May be controler. Charge pressure is regulated by a garge relief valve. So bad valve /broken spring/ may be also. Just check out the links in the connector on the sensor / you can use spray / ohm meter to check the earth.Just check out connector on the sensor / you can use spray / ohm meter to check the earth.

Thanks for the advice mate. I methodically worked my way through what I thought could be causeing the error codes, turns out my deals service rep was on the money. It ended up being the hydraulic sensor, cost $189.00 AUD every thing has reset and runs sweetly once again. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

We are here to help each other. Merry Christmas
