I switched due to the positive feed back I got from the ASV tracks in our area, there must be a huge difference in the soil and rock that everyone who tears these tracks up with compared to here. Bobcat's quality was getting to me, all the bucket tilt pins are worn and at the bottom of the loader arms where the tilt pins meet, that area had cracked and been since fish plated and welded on both sides, CAT's loaders seem to be much thicker there as well as the pins are in front of the loader, not inside like the Bobcat's, so there is less stress. The only downside to going with the 247 (as the 257 is more of a comparative size to the T190) is I will loose my high flow hydraulics, but the sales rep assured me that the people in the shop can actually mod the machine so that it has high flow on it, I've read about it being done on other machines as well, but I'm in no rush. The other aspect is that the 257 is on the same engine and tracks as the 247 and I can see a huge problem with that, some people even say the the 257 is sluggish and slower, so I think the 247 is a much better deal, but I will loose 500 pounds or ROC, but sometimes you have to give up something to gain something better, and that trade off is the tracks, due to all the high speed load and carry work I get with the dumping hopper, I feel like an old man by the day's end, all those bumps and vibrations just kill me, and the ASV is smoother, a little more delicate, but smoother. I do have to change my operating style now to avoid costly damage, but most of that is already behind me as my work methods have already changed from what they used to be.
