Morning, Picked up a 743 a week ago and am pumped about getting it running in tip top shape...Needs a little tlc, but that is what the fun is all about. It runs, but only on 3 cylinders. I noticed it when it was first started - could hear the miss. Its the front cylinder that is not firing. Grabbed the exhaust runners just after start and all were warming up nicely, except for that one. Hope it is just a dirty injector and the tried tested and true Kubota mill is ok inside. Muffler is rotted out, as is the flex pipe, so the engine compartment is covered with a nice layer of soot. My hands will be dirty. It has some electrical issues, the previous owners let it sit, and someone must have messed with the wiring. The only way they could start it for me was with ether (NO!!!!!) drove me nuts. I think it must be the glow circuit solenoid, since when I jumper power to the circuit for a minute or so, it preheats and fires right up (3 of the 4) just like a Kubota should. Other noted issue is the back bottom of the bucket has been worn thru (likely from snow removal) and that will be on the to do list....either replace it or get the plasma cutter out, and stitch in some new metal. Thats about all for now - it this crazy rain would stop, I could get to more of it...will keep you updated... Cheers...

Hopefully its just an injector, it could be a bad valve seat but a compression test would confirm this. I have started engines by rigging up a cable to the glow plugs and back to the battery before it works well and saves you using the dreaded ether. You can easily check the injector by removing it and hanging it out the back of the pump and cranking to see if you get a nice spray.
The wiring is pretty simple, it just takes a little time to trace things then you can get the glow working again.
