welcome to the site
and just my 2 cents,
but have you any actual seat time in a skid steer
as they are NOT very stable on uneven ground, or off camber ground, due to short wheel base and narrow stance
they are mostly best for flat level ground, not hills or slopes
add in there stiff frame, and , they then ain't the best on rocky uneven ground
I'd highly suggest renting one a for some seat time on your land before buying any. and renting models with the widest longest wheel base you can ind, and then sticking to like models if you plan to buy one!
the same goes for tractors
larger tractors with longer wheel bases and wider stance, will be SAFER and more stable IMO< than any skid steer!
might not be as fast or implement friendly at times, but they have an advantage when the terrain gets un even /not level and or rocky!
plus they offer the opportunity to get on and off them while working on things, where a skid steer your pretty much trapped inside at all times,
say like if your lifting a log, and want to trim it, or to chain something up while bucket is up
the tractors allows you to do this safely, where a skid steer, its NOT advised to exit the cab with boom up (unless locking out lift arms, or having a model with a side door)
so IMO there tractors are just safer at more times off road!
and again, I would suggest renting one a while, to try before buying!
its way easier to to rent and find out what one suits you better than buying the wrong machine and having to sell then buy again
or, maybe if you have friends with things you can borrow them to try??
I'll also add this, as food for thought!
as for tires VS tracked skid steers
both have pros and con's
over rocky hills, and are cheaper to replace if damaged(rock can cut into tires and tracks, ,
and at times tires can be less tippy, but as I said, it can vary pending each situation!
plus over the tire tracks can be added if need later on
