Last winter I had a mechanic work on my 3510 skid steer. It worked decent but ,I had to play with the choke regularly. This spring it has started spitting and sputtering when I want to work it. Sometimes it works well and then it starts blowing back through the carb and/or the exhaust( I know this because I have a hole in the exhaust). I have found if I stop ,it allows the engine to catch up. Usually it starts popping again when I work it.
Any suggestions

usually when a gas burner pops like that it is running lean and using the choke to correct verifies that. check you fuel filters and any vacuum hoses too.

Pulled the filter and it had a lot of dirt in it. I put a new one in it and the machine worked real good. It is not perfect, but doing what we need. Thank you for the advice

run it a few days and check it again to see if you are still picking up trash out of the fuel tank. that will let you see if you are going to have a on going problem .
