Reply to thread

When I try to reply to a thread, at first I can not type in the Message box until I depress the "Preview" button and then go back to the Edit mode. It is as if I am not in the edit mode when I enter a thread reply. Also, I can not get a image to paste to this window as per posting instructions via a previous link.
