My 873 will run for a few minutes then the gauge will go into the red saying it's over heating. When I put my temp gun on it the max temp at full throttle is 210. Is that too high or is my gauge bad. Machine is running fine. Oil is good. Radiator is clean. Fan seems to be blowing strong. Kinda stumped here. Thanks for any advice. 99 873 with 855 hours.

I think you will need to know what is the temp rating of the thermostat to judge that, if you have a 180 degreee thermostat I would think 210 is to high if you are running a 195 degree 210 might be ok ,diesels like heat to be effecient as possible but of course there is being hotter than the design of the engine. so I would research what the factory heat range is buy a new thermostat and install it so then you will know what is in there. and it might be a good idea since the coolant is drained to replace the heat temp. sending unit too at the same time. all cheap fixes.
