Bobcat 843 lift cylinders

I have a 1988 bobcat 843 I just had the lift and tilt cylinder's rebuild. Now the tilt cylinder works but the lift cylinder's will lift about two inches then stop. The lines are all on correctly. Can anyone help?

does it sound like the cylinder is trying, any down force if you tilt the bucket to the ground and then lower the lift the 2 inches?, try lifting the 2 inches then tilt the bucket will they raise more than the 2 inches

when lifting can you have someone feel the hoses and detect pressure or fluid flow

I can tilt the bucket down while pressing the lift arms up and thy will come up to the hight of the tilted down bucket but will not go up on their own. I've loosened the cylinder hoses and fluid comes out

hello Rbrown77, welcome to our group. I would suggest you check the hydraulic fluid level, it is likely low since you removed and replace those cylinders. keep us posted

Was the system fully functional when you removed the cylinders ?
Were the cylinders simply leaking oil or was something else wrong with them?

You could try to remove the front pins on the lift cylinders and see if they work without a load on them. This will also verify that the plumbing is correct.

Does the machine bog down at all when trying to use the lift? Does it sound like a relief valve is open or opening?

When I got the machine the two lift cylinders were off and the gland nut and piston were in bad shape so I got new gland nuts and pistons made and had them put back together. I just removed the fronts of both lift cylinders and when I pressed the pedal they extended but now will not retract

Not sure what would cause that. Could be a valve not engaging or stuck open.

Make sure that your auxiliary detent is not engaged. Pull the right stick all the way to the left to make sure it is disengaged.

It could be that the auxiliaries have never been used and there is a bolt that holds the right stick from moving left to right to stop the chance of accidentally engaging the auxiliaries. If this is the case then obviously the auxiliaries are not the problem.

What valve and where would I find it

Follow your lift linkage back to the valve. Make sure your linkage is moving that valve. You could have a loose or broken linkage that is just not engaging it. Look for any slippage or cracks on any of the parts.

Also, make sure that your pedal does not have an obstruction under it.

I've checked all the linkages and they all move. The bolt is still in the right stick and I've checked the aux connectors and no fluid comes out. The lift is now coming up real slow and then stops about halfway. It will go down fine.
