I'm hoping someone who knows a lot about these machines can help me hone in on a serial number range so I can at least be mildly confident when buying parts. Or if someone knows a secret serial stamp on the machine that would also be appreciated. Coming projects: Get all grease zerks working, full fluid changes, alt belt replacement, get bobtach levers freed up, tighten lift arm hydraulic fitting that's dripping, replace pedal and steering bushings, glow plugs, PAINT.

[QUOTE="kmfinley93, post: 112718, member: 19223"] Good Morning, New here and just purchased my first machine. I am a real estate investor and find myself renting a few times a year. I'm mechanically savvy and a diesel head, so I figured I may as well buy a nicely priced loader that I am told is about as simple as they come... so I made the mistake of purchasing a piece of equipment and relying a little bit too much on the owner provided information. He decided to take off all of the decals and strip the paint... and then never re-painted it. Thus, I got a very good price on said skid steer with 1300 hours. However... there is no serial number, and I figured that it would be stamped elsewhere on the machine as with cars, but that's not the case. Here's what I know: -I'm told it's a 743B. -I'm told it's a 1996(nope). -There is no boom mounted hydraulic stop. -Control levers are black. -Manual fuel shut off. -Aux. Hydraulics. -Remainder of one decal looks blue. The unit is low hour (1300) but has not been maintained as it should when this guy owned it, so there are a few issues that need to be addressed.
