Hi folks,
I have a 2016 Cat 259D.
I bought it from a paving company and it was lacking some TLC but the price was right.
Now when I work it, it goes beautifully for 20,30,40 minutes and then it simply 'gives up'. No power. Lots of revs but no hydraulic power. Then I let it sit for an hour and it's back to normal again for another 20,30,40 minutes. Definitely not low on hydraulic oil.
Do I need to get it scoped?
Is my hydraulic filter plugging?
Any suggestions welcome.
Have a great day!

you can change hydro filters and it certainly wont hurt but I think you have a pump issue, if your machine uses aw-46 in the hydros and you change oil to aw-68 and it operates longer, I would say it is the pump. you could find a presssure acess port and place a gauge there and monitor it at cold then hot temps and is what reading you have and match to factory specs also.
