I got axles re-cut with new keyways. I got all new races installed and now starting to assemble axle through the axle housing. I can't get seal in place if I put outer bearing on outer end of axle shaft as flange will be 1/2" from end of axle housing. So I put the bearing in place on the housing and put the seal flush with housing end.. But if I now 'press' the axle through the housing won't all the pressure be on the needles and cage rather than the inner circle part of the bearing? Should I put the axle flange down and 'press' the housing down over axle but use a pipe to slide over axle so pipe can press on inner part of bearing? The sprocket end is simple it's the outer one I'm wondering how to do. Anybody know what maintenance manual for case 1816 says on replacing that bearing?
