The engine coolent temp gauge on my 843 is non-functional. I suspect the sender is bad. Does anyone have a a part number for something available at auto parts store? Also, to test the gauge, what amount of DC voltage should I use? 12v? 9v? 3v?

To test the gauge just take the wire off the sending unit and ground it. With the key on the gauge should read as high as it will go.
To test the sending unit measure the resistance from the terminal to ground with the engine cold and then warm the engine and see if the value changes.
Easy fix is to buy a temp gauge kit from the auto parts store and replace both the gauge and sending unit. The kits come with different adapters to fit the new sending unit to most engines.

Outstanding info OM! I'll perform the tests and let you know results and what actions I've taken.

I couldn't get either the sender or the gauge to respond to any testing so I called Bobcat and there's a maintenance bulletin on those parts BTI259. So I got the new gauge and sender for $33.28 plus tax & shipping. Installed last night and appears to be working correctly.
