i just put a starter on my ls180. it now starts great and runs strong again but everytime i plug the seat belt in, the starter gets power and tries to engage (this is how i shelled out the last starter). I just had to push snow so i unpluged the wire from the starter after i got it started. then i was able to plug in the seat belt so i could free the pedals. although this worked, i would like to fix the problem. any advice on where to start? any help is appreciated

I can think of only two possibilities. Key switch or start interlock relay. You can check the key switch by seeing if you have power at the s terminal when the switch is in the on position. More likely it is the start interlock relay contacts have welded themselves together.

I had this same issue and I replaced both the relay and the starter switch and the problem went away.

Very common problem on your machine. The relay hangs up. Look at the relays in the engine compartment behind the seat. There are two big relays with 4 wires each. One runs your engine preheat and one is your starter relay. Get a new starter relay and you will be good to go.
