Man, Do I Feel Stupid!

I have a 753G. I do a lot of mowing with a brush cutter and use the 753 for the tight places that I cant fit a bigger machine into. With that in mind, when I run OTT Tracks, I hate the extra width that the spacers used. I had a job tomorrow that had 64" of clearance to get the machine past a building and to the lot that needed mowing.... no-go with the spacers installed! I got to looking at the tie-down points behind the rear wheel and decided (because I never use them) to torch them off, which would let me run the tracks without spacers. Well........... the &%#^ing fuel tank burns quite well when an oxy-acetylene flame gets to it! Instead of mowing tomorrow, I'll be pulling the engine/pump ass'y. Man, do I feel stupid!

I have never used them but it will put alot of stress on your drive chains and gears fighting one another
OK, now I understand... I was thinking engine removal, you were talking about the OTT tracks. To answer your question, no... I remove the tracks far too often; they are only used when its too soft for rubber tires.

You do not need to remove the front chains with tracks. Yes running OTT all the time will put added stress on the entire drive train. Removing the front chains would only put more stress on the rear causing excellerated wear on the rear, probably snapping them prematurely.

I agree that if you just use them now and then not to take the front chains off but the guy down the street left them on all the time with the chains on he had to replace all the sprockets it would have been much cheaper to replace the rear chains and that is what he does now

Don't feel too bad about this. I was installing an electric fuel pump in my machine a few years back and was drilling a hole in the engine bulkhead to tap for a mounting bolt for the pump. The fuel tank is on the other side of the engine bulkhead.... you can guess what happened.
Thankfully, the fuel tank is really easy to remove on the 440b. I tapped the hole and plugged it with an 1/8" NPT pipe plug. So, my tank now has a drain plug!! I am a glass half full kind of guy!!

I keep telling myself that it gave me the opportunity to clean places that haven't been cleaned since she left the factory! Demo-ing a T-300 today with AIR CONDITIONING! Bet THAT machine is no fun to R&R the engine!
