Mistimed drive motor

I recently put new seals in my drive motor and I do not think I timed it correctly when I put it back together. I believe I may have gone one tooth to far. Forward seems extremely smooth and reverse has a delay then a jerk. Is this probably mistiming? Neither of those symptoms were present when i rebuilt it. I rebuilt it because the drive was seeping fluid into the chain case and that side of the machine seemed weak. Has anyone ever retimed a drive while it is still bolted to the machine or is that impossible?

It is always possible.
I thought if the timing was off, they just ran backwards.
If you only just put the new seals in, there should be no problem taking it apart and doing the timing again. It's only when they get old and harden up that they do not like being disturbed.

I don't know anything about them and wouldn't think anything was wrong except for the weird jerk in reverse.

Haha well that is exactly the issue I have.
I would think that there is a reason it's timed, if it was no issue if you simply reversed the hoses more people would do it.
I'd like to dive in again and re-time it and see if it still jerks.
The kerk could also be the shuttle valve sticking, ensure it is free to move.

Thats my first move as soon as it stops raining. Check the shuttle.

Id rather keep the rain and send you some more ticks. I picked 17 off my dog yesterday. We never had ticks up here till about 4 years ago.
Go to walmart and get the cheaper frontline generic and a bigger size than your dog and get some cheap granuals from the feed store and spread it around and where the sleep outside

Just wanted to update this in case anybody ever experiences a problem like this. The jerk and slowness in forward on that side were a result of a stuck shuttle valve as Tazza had suggested. It had worn strangely so was jamming. It had gotten so bad after a couple of snow storms that it was actually losing reverse completely at random, It would turn 1/8 of a tire rotation and then quit completely until it had cooled down. It also had less power in forward on that side than the other. All of these gremlins caused by a stuck shuttle valve. It was about 97 dollars with tax from my local Bobcat dealer. Took 3 days to get it. If anyone else has a similar problem with and early 80's 630 631 or 632 this may be it. I don't know if the motor style carries over to the 7 and 8 series as well.

Gotta love a happy ending. Good to hear it was something simple.
