Need help! My boom/tilt won't work. Replaced seat switch, seat belt switch. When i sit in seat lights dont turn on. when i hook up seat belt, light wont go out. Will start fine but boom wont unlock. I was told if i flip service/run switch to service the boom would raise. It doesn't. EIC? broken wire? something else? tired of buying parts, any help appreciated.

No in the service position the boom will not work. Others will be along to help you out but check the lockout solenoids on the valve body to see if power is getting to them, since it starts it does sound like a broken wire. Check all fuses first. do you have the book?

I am not clear on your explanation of the problem. Will the engine crank and start with the service/run switch in both the service position and run position? If it only starts in the service position then I would start with the 5A fuse in the engine fuse compartment. The fuse panel is above the fuel tank next to the fire wall. Remove the cover and you will see one or two fuse blocks. The 5A fuse is in the fuse block closest to the engine and the second one from the bottom.

No, it will start in either position. i've checked all fuses. I also ran wire from the battery to the solenoids on the pedals and they unlock when i do this. I have installed new seat and seat belt switches. I also borrowed an EIC board from a local dealer and tried on my machine and it didn't fix it. Now i don't know if there board was good but they claim that it is. If board, seat and seat belt switches are all good, what else is left? just broken wire? stumped!

Also, i don't know if you understood me in my first post. When i first sit in the seat the eic lights don't come on like they used to. Once i start the machine, the seat belt light flashes constantly.

Remove the instrument panel and on the larger connector check if you have power to pin 11, lt green, when you sit in the seat. Then check if you have power at pin 4, tan/white when you fasten the seat belt. You should also have power at pin 14, r/lt green. You also might want to check the ground circuit by seeing if you have continuity between pin 13 and ground. The key should be off when doing these checks...................Are you saying this machine worked properly before this issue? Will the engine start without the seat belt being fastened in both the service position and the run position? It should in service but not in run.

I checked all the pins for power and they were fine. checked ground for continuity and it was fine. also engine started w/out seatbelt in service but not in run. Before this problem, When i would begin to start i would fasten seat belt but light would stay on, so i would unhook and rehook until light would go out, then i would start engine and it would operate fine. I just thought it was my seat belt switch goin bad, i had this happen before and i replaced seat belt switch and it was fine after. I continued operating the machine this way until it wouldn't work anymore. Now i've put a new seat belt switch and seat switch. I don't want to buy an EIC unless i have to, so thats why I came to this forum, to get some advice on what it might be.

I would trace the seat and seat belt wires for damage

If you have power and ground, then you are only left with the instrument panel as the cause of the problem. If you have a friend with a LX or LS machine you could swap panels just to double check.......... One other check you might try is to disconnect the seat harness from the main harness. This is a square plug behind the seat. Once disconnected check the main harness seat connector and you should have power at one terminal. If you have power there then take a jumper wire and place one end on the terminal with power and touch the other end of the jumper wire to one of the other terminals of the main wire harness seat connector. If the dash lights do not come on, then move the jumper wire to the other terminal while the other end is still in contact with the terminal with the power. If the dash lights do not come on when jumping to either terminal, then you either have a wiring problem or the panel is defective. Since you already checked that you had power and ground to the panel, all that is left is the panel..............If the dash lights do come on, when jumping between terminals, then you have a problem with the seat and seat belt circuit.

check back in the forum here if you need to get a different board. If you can take the time I think Mike knew of a place that rebuilds them.

Jerry mentioned someone who rebuilds the eic boards. I would appreciate any info on that. Thanks.
I see Mike10 mention in past post that Ag express in Des Moines Ia. is a rebuilder of eic boards. I didn't look to far though. Use the search this forum function for eic and see what comes up. I do know that if you use the diagnostic function of the eic and don't pay attention you can end up entering a lock code and if you don't write it down you will have to get the master code from the dealer to unlock. Did that once.
