Hello everyone, New member here from Maryland. I just bought a Bradco 11 MD2 backhoe attachment which came with the ridged frame mount brackets. Of course they are not the brackets made for my machine. I contacted Bradco and they said it would cost $1900. to get the proper brackets for my machine. Well I really don't want to put that much more into it, so I was hoping for suggestions. I read the one thread on here about ball mounts but I'm wondering if I can adapt the existing brackets to my machine. The problem is I really don't know what the brackets that mount on the machine look like. Has anyone else done this before ? What did you do ? Is the ridged frame necessary ? how about just the quicktach plate? Any suggestions or comments are appreciated. Stephen

What machine are you attempting to mount it to?
The bobtach alone is not enough to hold it tight. The older machines had a simple trailer ball setup, worked a treat. $1900 is just silly, i'm sure if you can get mounting plates, someone with a welder can modify the backhoe to fit the cheaper mounts.

You need a tie to the loader frame to steady your bucket tilt cylinders or the hoe will fall forward as you dig. Even a upper link from a tractor 3 pt hitch will work. NH and JD offer these in a quick release version too that snap over a ball instead of having to pull a pin.

Thank you both for the suggestions. Last night I looked a little closer at the existing brackets and my machine. I took some measurements and as it is right now the brackets will not fit inbetween my bucket cylinders. The outside measurements of the brackets is 23-1/4" . I have 21-1/4" between the cylinders and I guess I should have at least 1/2" clearance on each side. So it may be possible to modify the existing brackets by moving the arms inward 1-1/2" each side. Once I cut the arms off the brackets I can hook the backhoe attachment up to the machine and see if I have to modify the length of the arms. It looks like these brackets mount on a horzintal rod pin. I've never actually seen one hooked up but I can visulize it. Can you post pictures on this forum ? If so I can show you what it looks like.

Ok, It's been a few weeks and the project was a success. I had a very talented welder whom had to do some real majic to bring all the parts together. It works perfectly and ended up costing around $300 parts & labor. Bradco quoted $1900.00 for the brackets so I saved quite a bit. If anyone else is considering doing this let me know as I have lots of pictures that may be of help to you.

Monumental... I'd love to see some pics of the mods you did. I'm faced with a similar issue as yours. I have a Case 1840 skidsteer and I bought a used Vermeer backhoe. The Vermeer was originally inteded for use with a case, so the quickattach works fine, but there is no other means of attaching/stabilizing, and from what I gather there is supposed to be. I think the Vermeer backhoe was modified over the years by previous owners. I know the last guy to use it used it with a bobcat machine. I'd love to see your pics. They could give me some ideas about what I could fab to help mine. Thanks! Steve

Hello Monumental, I am a new member as of today. I saw your post and have a similar problem. I have a Takeuchi V12, I purchased a used Bradco skid steer attachment and cannot attach it due to the brackets being in the way. Can you please send me pictures or tell me how you fixed this problem. Thank you much. I am in Maryland also.
