Where is a good place to order parts for my older 853 skid steer? Is there any place other than the local dealer? Or does bobcat keep their parts to dealer only? I have been searching for a few items for my machine, two of which are the muffler and exhaust pipe. I saw an older post on here that said the muffler was $369, now I know that post is a few years old, but figured I could expect a price in that area. My closest dealer quoted me $543 for the same muffler and $265 for the pipe. for those prices I will build my own exhaust. I've got all the part numbers for what I need, but searching online it seems like nobody carries them. I'd like to find a place online to order and just have them shipped to me.

On our bobcats I cut the elbows of the flex pipe and just clamp in a New flex pipe costs about 10 bucks if just the flex is bad. Other parts are hard to come by as they are so specialized.

I second that idea, some parts are way over priced, especially when a little work, you can make it your self.

Yup I'm going to fab my own up. no way I would ever pay that much. I saw some bobcat mufflers on ebay for like 250-300. I might have bought one for around that price, but no way over 500. Seems like bobcat sort of has a monopoly on their parts for machines? guess they aren't really releasing any into the "aftermarket" so to speak. So the ONLY place to get parts is directly from bobcat.

If you buy a parts manual for your bobcat machine (usually around $100), then you can search EBAY for those part numbers & save a ton of money. (For example, I bought a rear door latch from the dealer, then found out that I could use the part number to purchase 3 of them for less than one from the dealer = DAMN!!!) You can also ask the bobcat dealer for a "QUOTE" & the part numbers come on them. Either way, shop around while using the part number, that'll help reduce buying stuff that does not fit your machine. I hope that helps you out.

Parts limited to only available at dealers is not uncommon among most equipment OEMs so don't think Bobcat is the only one. For years Deere speced all their fan belts to 1/2 sizes.

You can go to the bobcat site to look up part numbers by model. Not as easy to navigate but still helpful especially if trying to explain to some clueless parts monkey
