Getting an error code 50-44. Will run in reverse fine but when going forward it will throw that code and come to a SUDDEN and I mean SUDDEN stop. The first time it happened we had to take the guy to the hospital because he hit the windshield so hard. Not sure where to start looking.

Without double checking that code, I'd suspect a wheel speed sensor. Probably best to take it to your dealer and have it hooked up to the service analyzer.
