First question I have is about the charging system. When i bought my machine it had set for a while and it would only charge sometimes. After checking all the wires and finding nothing corroded I bought a new alternator. After that it charged great. That only lasted about 4 hours of operation now it wont charge again and I can not figure out why. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this machine. Also is there a voltage regulator hidden somewhere. Next question. I found a block heater to fit the engine but I'm not sure where it goes. I read on the internet that it goes in the head. Where in the head does it go. Or does it go in the side of the block like most other engines. Thanks

There shouldn't be a seperate voltage regulator. I'd start by checking the diode that runs from the switch to the exciting wire on the alternator.
I'd try checking it by hoolking up the B+ connector from the alt to the batttery, check the voltage at the battery with the machine running, then use a jumper wire from the exciting terminal on the back, touch it to +ve, check the voltage at the battery again. You shoudl only need to touch it to get it to start charging, it shouldn'r be needed to stay connected to keep charging (i don't believe so at least). This will confirm if your alternator is still ok.

Where would the diode be located. Thanks

That i'm not 100% sure of.... I rewired mine, so it got a new one installed near the switch. I 'thought' it was in the wire in the engine bay, but i can't be sure.

i have a wiring diagram. it shows 2 diodes but it doesnt appear that they would stop charging if they failed. they would most likely make the electrical system go nuts if they failed. the alternator sends charge voltage to both relays. the alternator output wire goes to the glow plug relay center terminal then gets jumped to the starter relay side terminal. then it goes to the connecter in between your seat then to your switches. check the connectors next to the seat. mine was corroded a bit.
