G'day all, I am new to this site and stumbled on it when looking for some answers to a couple of faults on a 665 that I recently purchased, and I am hoping for a few ideas as local dealers have not been much help. When sitting on the seat, all the lights on the EMS board do not light up, only 1 warning light(red) and 2 service lights(orange). I am a little familiar with these type of set ups and tested the electrics to the board and they all seem good. Tested all LED lights and they are all working. When checking the LEDS for power when they should be on I found they drop voltage to one side of the terminal which brings the lights on. The ones that are not working do not drop voltage and both terminals are staying at 12 volts. I am thinking there must be some type of resister in the board that does this. I have been told they are upwards of $1000 and the dealers are saying to buy a new one. Anyone come across related problems? Thanks

The best place to start is checking your grounds on your harness and control box. Does your machine have a service position on the key switch? make sure its in run position. Could it be a bad seat or seat bar sensor?
Ken or Charger are the guys to talk to about NH machines, my knowledge of them is very limited :(

Sorry but my knowledge on the eic in not too good yet either mine haas worked so far.
The good news is they are easier to rewire back to std 2" guages if you decide to go that route.
Shoot Charger a email from his site www.glmechanical.ca and see if he has some spare time.
He works for a NH dealer. Check any ground you can find, I don't think the service switch located in the "in cab fuse box" (on a ls 160 anyway) would affect this. It just take a signal from the seat switch and everything should light up when you sit down.
Pushing the arrow button that points to the right on the display should cycle various guage readouts into the hour meter numerical display area.

It sounds as though you are electrically inclined. I have an Lx865 . My dash module went on the fritz. I priced it and it was around 650 dollars.
I chose the route as ken above gives as an option. As long as you wire the safety selenoids into your seat pressure and seat belt switches so you have to be in the seat before you get power to the fuel selenoid. Your keeping it safe. I would not eliminate the safety features.
The other problem in gauges and low oil pressure shutoff and overheat shutoff. there are after market systems for diesel engines for a little over 100 dollars to protect your engine. You could probably wire your hydraulic temp. sender also.Ill look up the name of an aftermarket sys.
You can go to messick .com and put your model no. in and look up lhe price and part no. of any part for your loader. It also has expanded views to help. I use it all the time. The parts guys love it when you come prepared with part number. Mike

They list three insturment clusters for your model. one is $458 another is $759 and the last is $321. Expensive but not over 1000.
Those prices come from the web site on my last post. mike

Finally got the weekend off to strip the machine and do some testing on the eic board. Did not find anything out of place with the input into the board just as mentioned before that the 12v I am getting to the lights that are illuminating, one side of the LED is dropping off in voltage and bringing the light on, where the lights that are not working the 12v is staying current. Checked all electrics to board and nothing found. All power into the board is 12v and all negs are good. The people that I have rang for info do not seem to know as much as me so I have not had much help there! Checked the web site mentioned and can not seem to get into the parts catalog, maybe something to do with accessing from Australia, not sure? Hope someone can assist

When the link comes up ckick your model number in the left column. then hylight and click[ Figure Listing] on the next page. all your options for part catagories should come up . When you choose a part and get a diagram. click Fit Page under the diagram. This will allow you to zoom . all e part number and prices are avlailable in the column on the right. Mike

After it shows that its loading, the screen appears the same with the exception that under your model no. there is small type that says[ Figure listing] You have to hylight and click that.If your not getting that second page I dont know how to help. I have been told that the same parts search is available from New Hollands main web site. You may want to try there. I also have had trouble getting the part diagrams to download. If one of the other Australian Forum users would try to download the site it would let you know if its an out of country problem. Mike

Sorry for long delay in reply but been busy at work. I can access the site now, thanks, and it is a very good site. I still have not ordered a new eic board so it is still playing up but the machine is running well. I have had the odd start problem of late, kicking over but not firing a few times. The first occasion that this happened I played around with the fuel pump to make sure the fuel solenoid was working and it started straight away. The second time it fired after about 10 seconds. I have not checked anything as yet but it seems that it is not getting fuel as the glow plugs seem to be working and it is still warm over here in Aust, it will never be the cold that does it. I am thinking it may have something to do with the fuel primming pump? Maybe I need to leave it on ignition for a few seconds to give that pump time to work. Anyone know if the line has a check valve in it as maybe its bypassing? Is there a correct starting method that I need to be following? Maybe you blokes with a manual can tell me? I really need to order a operation and maintenance manual, don't I! Thanks again!

Here when the weather is above freezing the glow plugs only get a few seconds(2 to mayby7) and she fires right off. Maybe wire a bulb in the fuel solinoid wire to see if it has power?
I know the electric lift pumps have vary little pressure, say 4 to 5 psi.

Should you not be able to hear the pump run by just turning the key...not all the way to start but to the point that the lights come on? I know on my 555, the pump can be heard very clearly and there is no doubt it is running.

Yes you can here the pump with the key on.
The problem with NH manual is there are several sections to cover the whole machine and each is a separate book/ purchase.

Daffy That web site comes and goes. Sometimes you get all the way to the figure listing and it wont download. I called them the other day and they said they were having problems. The New Holland Home page is suppose to give you access to the same parts diagrams.
Just some information! If you have problems its not your computer. Mike
