I need an auger drive and rock bit (lots of weathered schist), and need recommendations on the brand. I'll probably only be drilling 30 or so holes, for now, but I want something descent. I am not inclined to hiring someone, either. I see a few brands, like Blue Diamond and McMillen, but I am not familiar with any. What is a good brand of auger drive and bit? I have a JD 332 to operate it, and will need a 12" bit. Thanks. john

I haven't had any difficulty drilling holes in West Virginia karst rock with the McMillen. The rock bits are great for eating through our tough rock.

I would go with a Lowe auger drive. I did a lot of research before buying a lowe. Check out kapteynequipment.com and contact them guys. They can get you what you need. https://www.kapteynequipment.com/u
