Hello I have a non running bobcat 751. I need to pull it on and off a trailer to get it back to the shop. Where it is down it is not possible to get a tow truck. Is there a way to relieve the hydraulic pressure so that it can slowly free wheel, or is there another way to be able to slowly pull it a short distance. Thanks Tom

You really only havel two options here. Brute force or remove the drive motors and disable the park brake.
I generally just drag a dead machine. You could crack the main hydraulic lines to the motors and disable the park brake and allow it to roll SLOWLY or you can remove the 4 motor mounting bolds and remove the entire drive motor. You still need to disable the park brake, as it will lock the wheels up.

Hi there. I have the same issue and i'm seeing suggestions that you can lift the cab of the 751 and remove the parking brake solenoid under the seat. Would this not allow the machine to roll freely? I'm game to try it but would like some confirmation before I go through the labour.

Short answer is no.

The brake is really only there as a safety in case someone accidentally hits the controls with the machine running and also it could technically roll if there was a leak while parked.

Without the brake, the hydraulic motors are hydro locked when they don't get any hydraulic pressure in one direction or the other or when the valve is closed.

On some older machines, with manual controls, you could move the controls in the direction you wanted to tow the machine and this would open up the valve and allow fluid to move while towing the machine.

Hook to the dead machine by one back corner so you are dragging it diagonally. Also hook between machines so the towing unit is lifting up on the towed unit. You aren't going to succeed in generating more pressure in the hydro systems by dragging a dead machine than you would with the machine operable, at full power, and spinning the wheels on a high traction surface. If you can't wreck the hydros by maxing them out in normal operation, you won't wreck them dragging the machine either.

There is a procedure in the manual for that. I have winched machines onto trailers by removing the traction lock solenoid and then opening the chain case and pulling out the lock bar. You can't go very fast but you can tow the unit. Memory tells me less than 3 miles per hour.
Just go slow and don't get under the load. You probably don't need to be told , but always put the back end of the loader towards the front of the trailer. They tend to be ass heavy, so unless you have a heavy attachment hooked up, they can roll over backwards on inclines.
Good luck.

Traction lock can get damaged if dragged on dry pavement.
Disconnect Parking lock mechanism.
