Indeed, it does look great! Let us know how it goes. Do you know how much it weighs?
Looks awesome. Did you use a hardened steel for the blades? The blades for my Brushcat are tempered spring steel, but do get some serious wear. I don't think mild steel would hold up. What the clearance between the deck and the blades. Sometimes, pieces of trees will get caught and stall the motor. Looking forward to hearing how it works. BTW, how much money do you have into materials?

Not sure if the blades are hardened but I think they are. There is about 5" between the deck and blades and 3" off the ground. 8" channel for the sides. I have not used it yet because the stump jumper is out of balance and I'm waiting for another. I have about $4000.oo into it not including my time. I can hear the damm air getting chopped when I kick it in HighFlow @ full throttle. Sounds wicked but vidrates bad.

rs- get a hold of me if you are still around, I'm WA based (West Columbia Gorge) and have similar feelings for our "elected?" gov. I do a bit of fabricating, put a bush-hog on my Case 350 Trackloader ~ 6 yrs ago, and now also have a Bobcat 864 w/ BrushCat + Stumpgrinder, chipper, grapple, 6 way... I'm just getting rolling in the brush business, as my employer of 32 yrs pulled the plug 6 wks before retirement, now I need to make $1k/month just for medical ins...

I want to congratulate you, RS Coyote on such a fine job on your cutter, I would love to make one like that.
I wonder if you would share your secrets with me?
Motor selection deck thickness etc.

Find a Brush Wolf dealer and order the the Motor, coupler, Gearbox, & blade assembly through them. I did a lot of research before I bought the components. Basically you get what you pay for and they already have a good system. I just did not like their deck & saved a few bucks building my own. I have found that Brush Wolf has a heavier set up than what you find on farm brush cutters. The blades cost a few hundred dollars IIRC. But I have been welding the edge back on them to keep them sharp. I have a 863 HF machine and @ full throttle and in HF the blades turn about 1400 RPM & 1000rpm in standard flow. I have cut down and mulched 5-6" trees.
I used 8" channel for the side rails, 1/4' for the top sheet, 1/2" plate to bolt the motor and gear box to, & 3" channel for reinforcement across the top.

This looks like a nice machine. But have you thought about what will happen if you run into say a steel fence post, barbwire, re-bar , tires and the like. I don't think it will take it well. And these are things I have ran into hidden in brush cutting with my rotary and I kept on going except for the wire which took a few minutes to clean out. So I don't think I would not be envious of this design. Looks high maintenance $$ also to keep all those teeth sharp.
