Bobcat S185 Winter oils-fuel additive How cold would you operate the machine if it was coming out of a heated shop? Other than oils/grease and fuel considerations is there any other hints or things to watch for. I am talking about operations around -30C about 25F below. Is this too extreme? Things I have noted. When lifting snow the windshield is constantly being sprayed with snow, you need to use the wiper and have a cold weather washer fluid. i.e -40 fluid. Snow builds up just below the door, there is a small ledge, keep that clear of heavy build up or the door wont close. Carry a small shovel. I run my tires at about 38-40PSI, I find I have better traction. Be sure to drain the fuel filter sump when in the shop. I run a fuel additive called Diesel Kleen and Diesel 911. I use an ambient temperature of -30C as my cut-off.

Sorry the post above is all run together. I typed it out line by line - but it came out as one paragraph

I shut down operations around -25 to -30C too. It seldom snows around here at that temperature anyway. Too easy to break something. Speaking of breaking things, be careful when pushing snow up into pile. I have had frozen chunks come over the back of the bucket down on the windshield. Those fancy curved windshields are expensive, trust me.

Yes, they do. Did you check out their shipping costs to northern Canada? I might as well buy it from my local dealer.

Okay, that's a lot better deal than the last one I saw. Less than half the price of one from Williams Machinery. I live in Telkwa. About 12 hours south of Whitehorse via Hwy 37.

I am driving out to Abbotsford in the spring. I will probably go to Bellingham, so will have one of those windshields sent there for pick-up. Let me know if you want one, I will probably drive back via Hwy 16/37..been through Telkwa many times. Drop me an email at [email protected]
