I "inherited" what I think is a farmboy 440. from what I can find on the web it either has a m18qs or a 17hp motor, both of which appear to be kohler. now to the questions---- is there an easy way to id the motor? I have searched the motor twice and found a 14-E on the side of the cylinder base, no other id numbers are there. there is a place where there may have been an id tag but no longer. If any body might know what im dealing with I need a carb kit for it. the motor is a single cylinder, pull start. any help is appreciated!!!!!!

You'll have to post some pictures and then we might be able to ID it. The 440 original engine should have been a twin cylinder electric start Kohler M18. You may have the smaller 371 instead of a 440. The 371 had a 14HP engine.

If it turns out to be a 371 the carb kit for the 14HP Kohler K321 is part number 25-757-01-S
