I'm looking at a used Bobcat and the guy that is selling it says they don't come with titles of ownership. That's a bit of a red flag for me. Is that true? He says there is a bill of sale for transfer of ownership but that is it. This will be my first piece of equipment. Thanks. Dave

I don't think they do, just a receipt should be enough though.
Don't quote me on that, we don't have titles over here.

I just traded in a '95 753 that had a "certificate of origin" on a '06 S185 and was told that they did not use them anymore. I'm from Nebraska.

No, they do not have titles. If it makes you feel any better, they sell $300,000 farm equipment without titles too.

That makes me feel a little better. I didn't want it to so "hot" I would need an A/C ;---) I missed a "steal" (not literally) on an 863 yesterday. I had to sell some funds and wire some money, and after all that, a guy went late last night and bought it out from under me! I guess that is the way it goes. I'll just keep looking. Thanks everyone. Dave

If you are ever worried about a HOT machine just call your local dealer and give him the serial number. Bobcat has a place on their dealer site that has a list. As long as its been reported to Bobcat. Ive found a few stolen machines coming into the shop. The serial numbers are also stamped on various parts of the machine. Pain in the butt to find sometimes.

Good advice. Thanks.

Yup, farm machinery in general doesn't come with cert ot title or any other DMV involvement. Found this out when I bought my M-600. Be sure to get a clean bill of sale though that shows the seller's drivers licence number which you also verified by eyeballing his licence.
