Bobcat M600- Variable Speed Drive Problem

I have a Melrose Bobcat M600 skid steerer, with a Wisconsin gasoline engine. The variable speed drive is not working at all. I do not get any movement of the variable speed driven sheave. I have greased the drive unit. How can I check if the variable speed control valve is working correctly? How do you remove the hydraulic hose from the end of the drive unit? How do you remove the variable speed drive unit? How does the drive unit work, and can it be rebuilt? Thanks for any help you can give me.

I assume you have the early version of the variable speed sheave since you say the hydraulic hose is on the end of the unit. Here's the page from the service manual on how to remove.
