I purchased 8 quarts of Bobcat 30 weight oil today and was surprised when I paid $6.14 USD per quart. Is there another brand of oil that would offer the same care to my equipment that might not be quites as expensive? Also I have thought about adding Lucas Oil Stabilizer when I change it to help the engine life. My 743 is an 1986 model with a broken hour meter and I have no idea how many hours the machine has on it but it seems to still work pretty well. Does not appear to burn any substantial amount of oil but it does smoke a little when it starts and when put under a load.

Any diesel engine grade oil will be fine, i use castrol RX super. It MUST be diesel engine grade, it has special detergents to keep the engine clean.
I pay about AUD $20 for 5 liters.
As for stabilizer, i wouldn't add it but thats just me.
