Recently picked up a 642 bobcat, and noticed there is oil weeping from the output shaft on the governor. From the searching I have done, it sounds as there is no rebuild kit available for these things, and if available a new one sounds to be spendy..it seems to be in good working order other than the seepage. So if I stay religious on checking and adding oil as needed that's about all I can do for the moment?

Assuming that you have a ford fl98 engine with a hoof governor, it appears that the shaft is supported by a ball bearing assembly and sealed with a std lip seal. If you are lucky and detect no side play in the shaft, extract the seal and replace. If there is side play, disassemble as needed to RnR the bearing and seal. Good luck.

Again assuming a HOFF governor, the following link should help with teardown n rebuild. http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php?136581-Hoof-Governor-Tear-Down-and-Build
