I have a similar problem as a few post back. When I crank up my 863g lower the bar and push the button everthing will work fine for 3 to 4 sec every time then the boom and tilt lights starts blinking 3 times and at first it beeps 3 times, and the boom and tilt is locked up. The only way to reset it is to kill the machine and start over, then after the above is done it locks up again. Pushed the light switch and got a code "17-06" ser # is 51444xxxxx 863 g series Does not matter if it is warm or cold. For the first 3 seconds everthing works ok(boom and tilt) never locks up the drive, it seems to be timing out or something. Anybody got a code chart. mel

Sounds like a safety lockout. I'd check your seat and seat bar sensors, they will both cause your hydraulics to be locked out for safety reasons even as it thinks you are not in the seat and stops to keep you "safe".

Tazza It has the push button to operate loader, does that mean that it has no seat switch. I have looked all over and cannot find one. The bar works the lights on the left dash, and after the boom tilt lock out lights starts flashing if I rais the seat bar it will lock out the drive. Does that mean it is working ok(bar switch). I changed out one soloniod coil that was rusted real bad, top one on right side on top of valve body, sticking out to the left, says 10 volts on label. Where can I get the code online?? thanks Tazza

Code 17-06 is Hydraulic Lock Valve Solenoid Short to Ground.
Since it works for three seconds it is probably the actual solenoid and not a harness problem.
It is the solenoid in the middle of the control valve. If you ask for a BICS coil at the parts dept they should know what you need. Takes about 15 minutes to replace.
Good Luck.

I don't fully understand how the PTO button works, i don't know if it fully over rides the safety devices or not...
As for the bad coil, wouldn't a bad coil prevent the arms from working all together and not work for 5 seconds then lock you out? The late model machines are still new to me but i'm learning.

Later bics loaders had a pto button instead of the trouble some seat switch, there was even a kit to update from a seat switch to a pto button for the early bics loaders.
Up until the G series (I think) if you pushed the pto with the seat bar up the wheels unlocked but not the boom (for backhoe use)
G series has a separate yellow pto button to unlock the wheels only, for hoe use.

some early 863's had a nurled knob on the end of the lock stem which stuck out the end the coil when turned it allowed it to operate , new ones don't have it , on that machine it would be on the vavle with the knob on side the seat which lets the boom down in emergency , depending on serial number it could be in other places

Tazza-I was thinking a shorted coil, one that initially works as far as pulling, but has too much resistance and after a few seconds is kicked off by the computer. Old school would have blown a fuse or tripped a breaker.
Memco-If you replace a coil on the top of the valve that had a label that read 10V, you replaced one of your auxillary spool control coils. The hydraulic lock valve solenoid is down lower on the valve, under and amidst the tubelines.

I have old timers say thay have no use for the internet, but to me with the help I receive and am able to give at times you couldn't keep me off of it. mel Take a look at my world. Got to the hydraulic lock solenoid and checked it. It read .03 oms , close to a direct short.
Removed it and put a screwdriver through it and hooked it up to 12 volts.
Acted like a direct short, will see if the Bobcat dealer has one in stock tomorrow and put in and see if it works.
Thanks all for the help from ever body, nice to have a place like this.
