I have a nice 1978 bobcat 722 with an industrial Ford (inline) 4 cylinder engine, seems like the distributor went? power in but nothing out, put everything new in it, we went thru the distributor but still no sucess? we went as far as rewiring the machine, new coil etc, gets plenty of power to coil, make plenty of spark at the points using bobcat parts even, yet with brand new plug wires still no spark gets to the plugs?? we're puzzled/ anyone ever experience this? does it need a new distributor? anyone know where to get one? HELP!

Pull the coil wire out of the cap and hold it close to the engine block. Crank the engine and see if you're getting any spark from the coil. If you've got spark there, the rotor or cap may be bad. If you've got no spark directly from the coil and you know the points are working then the coil is bad.

You say that you are getting spark at the points? That sounds like a bad condensor. That would definitely keep it from running.
