I HAVE A 642B BOBCAT THAT CREEPS FORWARD. I'VE BEEN TOLD IT NEEDS ADJUSTING OR THAT THERE IS AN ADJUSTMENT FOR THIS PROBLEM. DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW HOW TO MAKE THIS "ADJUSTMENT" ? LOCAL DEALER IMPLIES IT IS SOMETHING THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO. HOPEFULLY, I CAN DO IT MYSELF. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

You can do this your self, it is just adjustments on the hydrostatic pump where the steering levers attach. You need to adjust the stops so that its all centred. Its an awfull job, but anyone can do it with alot of patience. Block the loader so the wheels are free to move, remove the rops (or lift it if your model allows this). Start on the back section, when its rite move to the front one. If i remember, i will scan details on this and post it. Its for a 731 or a 743, but they are essentially the same pump.

THANKS. I APPRECIATE THE HELP. FROM WHAT I CAN SEE, THE ONE IN THE REAR WILL BE A BEAST TO GET TO. IF YOU CAN SCAN THE INSTRUCTIONS, THAT WOULD BE AN EVEN GREATER HELP. THANKS AGAIN.

I have uploaded the scan to my home page, copy and paste this to your web browser if the link doesn't work.

TAZZA. I JUST REMEMBERED I HAD FORGOTTEN TO THANK YOU FOR THE ADJUSTING INSTRUCTIONS. YOU HELPED MUCH MORE THAN THE DEALER. THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR EFFORT.

Tazza, I am having this same problem. Do you still have the adjustment instructions? Thank you

we have got pretty good at doing this, last couple machines dealer could not get it but we did in less than half hour.

what I do is remove the bolts and add lock washers under the heads, set blocks as close to neutral as possible and tighten but not fully, have machine on blocks and start, I use a second person to move lever to get neutral use a long punch or rod and observe block and tap it as required to reduce gap behind it, move lever both ways and release, if wheel still turns repeat until it stops then go to the other side and repeat, you may have to do the procedure a couple times but using the spring washers you can adjust block position without it moving when loosening and tightening the bolt. finally tighten the bolts and check neutral has not moved

works every time and way quicker than the original method

Spitzar, thank you for the video. I have found some other videos, but this one is the simplest. I am hoping to get on it this weekend after I fix a hydraulic leak.
Thank you

I need to work on mine fairly soon too. I would like to se a larger "neutral" area in the controls--any suggestion on how to do that?
