    Preheat glow plugs each time?

Glow plugs are not needed if you know the engine is already at operating temp. If in doubt, hit the glow plugs. Their paid for, may as well use them. A 5 second glow will do if you have recently ran it. On a side note, you can Usually fix the idle creep with a linkage adjustment/repair...

Help- flywheel ring gear - is width important?

Yes, a narrower ring gear will work. Judging by the photo of the old one, the starter gear wasnt engaging the full width anyway. But you MUST make sure the ring gear is square and straight when you press it on. take a measurement of the new ring gear and make sure the inside diameter is...

trying to figure out if this antifreeze is ok for aluminum

Just remember to use distilled water, and not tap water. If you have ever seen the inside of a hot water heater, you will understand why you dont want tap water. Distilled water is mostly free of the heavy deposits that can damage/clog radiators. One other thing to mention is some diesel...

Bobcat 632 - Blown Head Gasket?

The smoke you are seeing from the crankcase breather is either blowby or steam from the coolant leak. More than likely it is steam based on the fact I dont see a big lingering cloud. It looks like steam. The cylinder head gasket can be done in chassis if need be, but it is a good idea to pull...

Going to pick up an old 632

If you emptied it via a auxillary port until it was empty, you may very well have air in the system. I tried that with my old 632 and it was noisy/ jerky for awhile. Running it on jack stands helped. It eventually cleared up and ran quiet.

    642 engine swap

A governor on a skid steer is actually a good thing. You just set the RPM where you want it, and the governor keeps it at that RPM. That being said, If your bobcat had the 1.6 Ford originally the needed parts should swap over. If your engine suffered a catostrophic end and you need the...

    642B - violent bucking

Do both sides respond the same? This usually is a indication of internal wear and eventually complete failure of a drive pump(s). It can also be extreme wear/play in the control linkage as well. If all the linkage seems tight, take the pumps apart and have a look.

Product review Titan Attachments 36 inch Pallet Fork Grapple.

I agree. They offered a full replacement. Whats not to say that they know the product should'nt have failed based on product history, and they were confident a replacement would have rectified your complaint and problem. Usually companies that sell China junk are quick to offer cash to make...

Is flushing hydrailic oil, damaging or should it be a top up only?

As far as the fluid samples are concerned, I am not sure what I am looking at. For the hydro oil you should only have 2 samples. New vs old(yours). I see 4 samples. Hydraulic oil, just like engine oil , transmission fluid or gear oil needs to be changed due to the wear on the fluid itself...

Does the Bobcat M371 have the same ROPS as the Bobcat S70?

Bobcat 463 and S70 are totally different. The next newest model to the M371 was the 310. I do not believe it is the same ROPS though. If you are needing a ROPS, they are not overly complicated. With a little bit of roll bar tubing, cattle panel fencing ,tubing bender , sheet 1/8" steel for...

Only starts when lifting bucket 743

Just to be clear, The above applies to a properly running engine. Hydraulic load can prevent and engine from cranking fast enough to start. A engine that is NOT running properly can be stalled by use of the bucket hydraulics.

Only starts when lifting bucket 743

Maxing out the bucket hydraulics or "dead heading" them should not stall the engine. The relief valve is there for that exact reason. If your operating the bucket AND hydro's at full tilt at the same time, that may stall the engine, but bucket controls alone should not stall the engine.

Only starts when lifting bucket 743

Guess I should add, if you cant get the right joystick to move to the left/right and force it all the way to far right and lock, these machines originally had a bolt that locked the lever. Even if the locking bolt is still in place, you will still need to verify the auxillary hyros are not...

Only starts when lifting bucket 743

Didnt realize it had a mechanical injector pump shutoff. How confident are you that the auxillary hyros are not engaged? If you move the right joystick left/right does it move? If you force it all the way to the right you should feel a detent and it should lock to that position. If it...

    Bobcat 310 Rebuild/Restore

If you have the original, a competent machine shop with a water jet cutter can reproduce it from the original diameter and chain pitch. Check my post history for pictures of the auxillary valve, linkage and lines for my old 310. I no longer have it so I cant get you any more.
